Day of Romanian Design at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Berlin

Today , the 21'st of January 2012 was the day for our very talented Romanian Designers to take the stage and present their Autumn/ Winter 2012 collections.

Telegraph.co.uk believes ''Berlin Fashion Week's trademark is now that of 'emerging talent''  and so do I. Next to the already famous international fashion brands, there are more and more emerging designers in the Fashion Week's schedule, which is a very positive sign.

Already present in last year's list under Romanian Designers here are Lucian Broscatean and Lena Criveanu.

I always felt that Lucian Broscatean is somewhat the little Yamamoto of Romania. It all comes back to me when I look at all the layers of material and asymmetry. There is also a slight trace of decon-recon, what is a very distinctive technique for the japanese designer too. For instance the shirt in the third image looks like it is made out of multiple ripped apart shirts and put together. (deconstruction - reconstruction). I do love the collection and I am so happy to see this futuristic side of the Romanian fashion.

Now I admit, this is the first time I hear of Mihai Dan Zarug, the man that is behind the brand Twenty(2)too  and I should be ashamed. I did become an instant FAN after seing his collection today. Some additional information is provided on the Mercedes Benz Official Webpage, in case you are interested to know a summary of his CV.

Twenty(2)too

The heart and soul of „twenty(2)too“ is Mihai Dan Zarug.

Mihai Dan Zarug has always been fascinated by fashion, and as a child he used to spend hours in his mother’s factory looking at the people who transformed by handwork a piece of cloth into a garment.

In 2007 he moved to Paris, where he graduated at ESG MABA in „Luxury Marketing Management” in 2008. After an internship in a press office in Paris, where Mihai had his first contact with some of the most cutting edge contemporary designers in Paris. His first own collection was launched in 2010 – twenty(2)too - http://www.mercedes-benzfashionweek.com/designers/romanian_designers

This for me is a very succesful collection just because it has leather , silver studs and white shirts.
I love the very clean, rock-preppy look; the leather details on the garments and the very chunky leather studded shoes and boots.
