Turkish designer Nihan Buruk's AW13 collection was presented as part of Runway Collective during London Fashion Scout. She has made her London debut with a very strong collection, consisting of coherent androgynous looks, from make-up and hair to accessories and footwear. The colour palette was kept to a minimal, concentrated on white, black, grey, a touch of bright red and rainforest green.
Tailored pieces like jackets, coats and trousers completed the androgyny looks, however the details and shapes of the garments would hide a certain delicate and feminine sensitivity. What most surely will be a strong trend for the next season, Nian's collection is defined by contrast and texture, by shiny versus matte fabrics.
I do hope to see the designer's upcoming work in next season's Fashion Scout as there is undeniable potential and substance here. It was a very structured, fluent collection with rock and grunge influences.
